This Asian networking group holds monthly events that are usually held on the last Monday of the month.  You can join the group on www.meetup.com or find their facebook group, New York Asian Professionals.  The group strives to create a low-key environment for working Asian professionals to interact and network.  Past events have been held at Manahatta, Von wine bar, and Slate.  There is never a fee to attend one of their monthly events.  The crowd is fairly homogenous, consisting primarily of business professionals in finance, accounting, law and medicine.  Age varies but the majority of attendees tend to be 30+.  As the name would suggest, the group is primarily Asian with a few non-Asian attendees looking to check out the scene and network.  I have found that their events usually have a good ratio of men to women.  Their events are always held on Monday, so they are pretty low key.   A good place to network and meet other like-minded working professionals.  A happy hour held on a Monday usually maintains a pretty tame environment as most people don’t want to go to crazy so early in the week.  The group in general is friendly, and doesn’t create a real intimidating atmosphere.  If you are in the mood to try to meet a nice guy working in one of the previously mentioned professions, these events are a good option for you.   Similar to an Oriented event, I am not sure if you will meet a lot of cute guys here, but you can be certain that he will most likely have a job and be able to take care of you.   And honestly girls, you have the weekend to meet all the jerks in the world, so maybe Monday is a good time to mix it up with some nice guys.

Went to one of these events and all I can say is, not professionally run. the organizer is a geekazoid and tends to attract the same.
