Asian Event Reviews – Oriented NY

Oriented holds events throughout the city on the last Thursday of the month. Events are open to all races, but the crowd is predominately Asian. The get-togethers are held at various bars and lounges, with recent spots including Vig 27, Aja Asian Bistro, and Pranna. The group charges $10 for each activity, or $5 if you register online ahead of time. Their events always include discounted drinks so the cover fee is minimal considering the drink savings. I find that the Oriented events in general attract a more subdued and mature Asian crowd. There is usually a good male/female ratio and their events don’t have a meat market feel to them. These aren’t the clubgoers or party type of Asian person. The majority of guests are in their late 20s and 30s, working professionals who are looking to socialize with other like-minded individuals. Oriented always selects restaurants and bars with a casual environment that can offer a nice setting for conversation. That being said, if you are a single lady out looking to meet Mr. Big, Oriented events probably won’t be the place for you. But I have heard, the less Americanize women like to go there to find a husband. I have also heard women complain that they don’t meet many good-looking guys, and for the most part that’s probably correct. That’s why I am still single. 
Oriented just doesn’t attract that type of guy. But if you want to socialize and network with a lot of friendly and open-minded Asian professionals, an Oriented event would be a great Thursday option.
