Posted on: July 22, 2010 | By Maigal
Oh yeah baby, unemployment benefits got extended again! Thank you Obama. I love YOU! Unfortunately not for people who received over 99 weeks of unemployment already. Sorry! I mean if you had over 99 weeks of unemployment and still didn’t find a job yet, you are either a BIG loser or you are taking advantage of the system. So please, get off your ass and find yourself a job.

American’s are lazy, however there is no jobs out there.. If a top harvard MBA needs to take a 30k job then we are in trouble.

its not obama its the the Governor of ny.
July 25th, 2010 @ 8:54 am
Obama has notthing to do with this.

Kate, Obama signed the bill. If he doesn’t, there would be no unemployment benefits extension. He is the man behind this.

What is Wrong with MBA grads taking $25k/yr jobs? What makes Americans feel so entitled to make 6 figure jobs. You need to adapt and take what you can get until the time is right to advance. That’s the problem with Americans: they are too proud and are born with a feeling of entitlement. Obviously if in 2 years you cannot find a job, esp with an advance degree, the problem is you and not the economy. There’s always fast food management

It’s pretty sad to be taking a 30k job as a Top Ivy League MBA graduate. There is nothing wrong but your missing the point of american society especially in NYC. 30k is considered poverty levels in NYC. Average Salary in Manhattan is 105k two years ago… don’t know about now.
Also I would like to point out NYC, SF hold different standards compare to other states in America. 30k is fine if you live in South Carolina or North Carolina.

i want to be unemployed before we get a new president and actually has to pay for all this.
July 25th, 2010 @ 8:59 am
My point is that you need to drop illusions of grandeur and if a $50k job is all that is available then take it and not feel entitled to some delusional salary. I’m not saying dream for a $30k job. But $30k is better than $0. And if you s…earched for 2 years and can’t find a job the problem is definitely you and not the economy. Start lower and then advance. Too many people want to start high and say the economy sucks. You have to lower your lifestyle along with the economy. I hate the fact that the government is always bailing people out so these people feel lazy

If you are an Ivy League MBA and you do not know how to make money then what the heck did you go to school for?
July 25th, 2010 @ 9:01 am
Any Ivy League piece of paper says SH*T about your abilities so if you can’t find a job, the problem is definitely you and you/your parents just flushed a bunch of money down the toilet to put your arse through college for nothing! Step of your pedestal and go figure out how to make money if taking a $30k job is “below” you. Extending unemployment benefits only exacerbates the problem; it doesn’t fix anything. I’m not saying people don’t need this but there are the free loaders who will milk this!

If 30k is consider poverty level in NYC then what about the people making min wage? 30K is not consider poverty.
July 25th, 2010 @ 9:02 am
30k is poverty in NYC based on a report a while back. Yes there are people making minimal wage.. basically anything below 30k is poverty.. of course to get specific they were basing off a family of 3.
I don’t know if this is factual or not.. but someone told me to be consider middle class in NYC… you have to be in the 150k range.
July 25th, 2010 @ 9:03 am
Middle class is a huge range. And NYC is a huge city range because you need to consider all the boroughs and definitely Queens and the Bronx people are making much much much less than the main NYC small area. But if you’re some MBA snob who can’t get a job then move to Queens or NJ. So $36k is not bad if you reside in Queens
Even $500k is middle class and even $1M is not upper class in many areas if NyC after taxes. So it’s all relative. But you need to compare to everyone and not just a select group of people.

It makes me pissed thinking about the Single Male college educated IT punk that took the government unemployment package instead of a job with a new contractor, when Nokia switched IT companies. He just got extended. And Bao is going to pay.
July 25th, 2010 @ 9:05 am
Bao is going to pay and we all are going to hear about it.

I believe in the equilibrium of the capital markets. If these MBA guys are taking $30k jobs then that means the shift is from business to technical jobs like engineering. Just like how the housing markets crashed (houses in many areas liter…ally tanked 70%), maybe job positions are being changed. Like bankers are now less in demand then before. So maybe business guys are now in less demand. People don’t realize that the economy is ever changing and so people need to adapt. I got a call from a recruiter a month ago based on my 7 year old resume he found. Shocker. So looks like engineering jobs are in demand again where banking and real estate jobs were hot before. What I’m saying is just because bankers and MBA jobs were hot before does not mean it’s going to be hot forever. And you know there are still guys out there getting very highly prestigious jobs. The $30k MBA guys must personally suck then.
Money and wealth skyrocketed the past decade due to many bubbles (stock market, housing, etc). So now we are in a correction and this is expected. We are in the worst economic downturn (supposedly) since the great depression. So people need to learn to stop feeling entitled. Back to basics baby and survival of the fittest.
And yes we are in trouble economically all around the globe. I have not worked for the past 3 months. Sucks mo income. I however have never ever taken a penny from government handouts. I chose not to work. I could work and make a lower …salary as well. But I chose not to. Just like many of these edu cared guys who are sucking free money cause they can’t find a good job like the ones they used to have. I’m not blaming the uneducated. It’s the ables bodied educated ones with a feeling of entitlement. Heck $40k I better than $0 and stop sucking money from our economy lazy assses
