4 A.M. Promotions
Promoter: Tom Tung Cheng
Tom’s events are a great option to mix and mingle with a diverse group of Asian professionals in NY. The crowd is primarily Chinese, but all Asian groups are represented. 4 A.M. has both weekday happy hour and weekend events. I find that of all the groups out there promoting the Asian scene, 4 A.M. chooses the best bars for its events. Favorite destinations include Slate, Taj Lounge, Duvet, Manahatta, Empire Hotel and Branch. Unlike a lot of other promoters, there are rarely cover charges for Tom’s events, which is nice. Occasionally for a weekend event there will be a small charge for men, but ladies can expect not to have to pay. The weekday events bring out a more mature group of Asian professionals looking to network and interact. These get-togethers tend to attract more men than women, and the age range is fairly broad, from post-college to 40+. The weekend events are a different story. The crowd becomes much younger and attracts a broader network of Asians from outside Manhattan. Some B&T, and in general less of the Asian professional scene and more of the Asian club scene. If you are looking to interact and meet other Asian professionals, you’re better off going to one of the weekday gatherings. If you’re looking to party and dance the night away while trying to meet some cute guys, the weekend events are definitely for you. Either way, Tom has both options covered. I know Tom personally and can attest that he is a really good guy who’ll go out of his way to meet everyone at his events and help out if there are any issues.
